Falmouth Academy, 7 Highfield Drive, Falmouth Mass

On Friday, January 11 at 7 p.m. the Bolshoi Ballet’s new production of Don Quixote will be shown at Falmouth Academy’s Simon Center for the Arts on Highfield Drive.  This showing of the newly-choreographed classical ballet (first seen in 1869) is a benefit for the Woods Hole Library.   Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at or at the door. Doors open at 6:30 to purchase tickets.

Cervantes’ hero comes to life in the Bolshoi's critically acclaimed staging of this exalting performance. With panache and sparkling technique, principal dancers Ekaterina Krysanova and Semyon Chudin lead the spectacular cast of toreadors, flamenco dancers, gypsies, and dryads in virtuosic dancing that is quintessential Bolshoi.

The original libretto was created by famed choreographer Marius Petipa, and it retains its brilliant classical atmosphere.  However, the staging has been greatly updated to reflect changing styles and to showcase new costumes, choreography, and musical numbers added to Ludwig Minkus’ score.

The Bolshoi Ballet broadcast film version includes interviews at intermission with dancers and choreographer Alexei Fadeyechev, which add to the immediacy and involvement of the audience with the production.

The production lasts three hours.
