Members of the Falmouth Chorale and the Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra invite singers and instrumentalists to join them for this year’s December community sing: “Readings & Carols.” under the direction of John Yankee.  Listeners are also welcome.  The event will be hosted by the First Congregational Church, 68 Main Street in Falmouth, on Friday, December 15, at 7:00 PM.  Doors open at 6:30 PM.

As an alternative to Falmouth’s traditional Messiah Sing, this year’s holiday sing offers a program of secular and sacred readings and carols.  It will be a special evening of stories and poems paired with songs of the season.  For instance, excerpts from Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales with “Good King Wenceslas” or John Yankee’s personal recollection of Midnight Mass with “O Holy Night.”  And, for those who may be missing the Messiah, Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” will be included.

Songbooks will be provided but individual harmonization is welcome.  This is an informal event; families and friends are encouraged to sit together, sing and be part of this joyful holiday tradition. Instrumentalists who want to play in the orchestra that evening are asked to contact FCPO President Fritz Sonnichsen in advance at fcpo@FalmouthChamberPlayers.org or 508-274-2632.

A donation of $10.00 for the Sing is suggested.  More information is available at 774-392-2383 or info@falmouthchorale.org.
