Painting for Everyone

One of our most popular classes, Painting for Everyone focuses on each student as an individual artist, their goals and ability level. Beginners and intermediate levels and all media welcome.
Life Drawing
Instructor: James Wolf
Ages: Adults
Wednesdays 7:30 to 9:30 pm, Fridays 1:30-3:30
Fee: $15 per class, 4 class minimum, prepayment required

Life drawing class introduces the artist to figurative drawing by combining academic training with the development of personal style. Working from a live, nude model, the students will be exposed to a variety of media as they explore some of the many different approaches to depicting the human form.

Music at the Mansion: The Art of the Cello

The Art of the Cello, a Music in the Mansion chamber music performance, will be Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 4:00 pm.

Bo Ericsson will be the featured cellist. Along with Robert Wyatt, pianist, Ericsson will present a trio of sonatas composed for cello and piano. The delightful “Arpeggione Sonata” by Franz Schubert will be included along with the enigmatic sonata of Claude Debussy and an early and rarely heard work of American composer, Samuel Barber.

Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Rte. 28 in Cotuit presents The Extremes in Concert at 8:00pm on April 13 and 14. The Extremes, Nancy Crosby, Barbara Ehle, Joanne Powers, and Barbara Vlacich present an evening of original works, blending soap opera, Cabaret Theater and modern dance. They run the gamut from humor to pathos, reverence to raucous, Mozart to BB King. The Extremes strut their stuff; singing, dancing, and storytelling about aging, sex, money and the state of the world. They will perform revised versions of their favorites as well as their latest work, How Did I Become my Mother?, a commentary on mothers less than perfect story book life. Children ages 8-12 are offered Deciphering the Principles of Design from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The cost is $20 daily or $95 for the week. Join L. Michelle Law and friends on daily treks down paths forged by great artists of the past and present. This series of expeditions explore the essentials of art through investigation of a variety of mediums and styles. Individual and group projects are designed to enhance the journey.

Jared McMurray in Concert

A piano recital will be performed by classical pianist Jared McMurray of Cotuit on Saturday, April 21 at 8pm at Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Rte. 28 in Cotuit. Mr. McMurray will perform works by Chopin, Ginestera and Liszt. Tickets are $20, $12 for CCftA Members and $10 for students w/ID. Reservations may be made by calling the box office at 508-428-0669.

Jared McMurray began his music studies at the Cape Cod Conservatory in 1988 with Noel Tipton. After high school, Jared became a scholarship student at the Hartt School of Music andmajored in piano performance and composition. In 1997 Jared was invited to play at thefirst annual Franz Liszt festival in Rio de Janeiro by his teacher and Brazilian pianist Luiz de Moura Castro. Jared is on the faculty at the Cape Cod Conservatory.
