The Simon Sinfonietta with Stephen Simon Music Director will present a concert representing three centuries of music as Paul Rosenthal returns to the Sinfonietta. Two seasons ago, he played Bruch's Second Violin Concerto with the chamber orchestra and was received with overwhelming enthusiasm. This time his violinist wife, Linda, will join him. She, like Paul, was a Heifitz student in California. Together, they will perform the Concerto in b minor for 2 Violins by the German 19th century composer and violinist, Louis Spohr. Aside from being well-known during his lifetime, Spohr was a prodigious writer for the violin and the first to use a baton as a conductor. This will be an extremely rare performance. Simon will also conduct J.S. Bach’s Suite No. 3 in D Major and Prokofiev’sClassical” Symphony.

A reception with the artists follows the concert.

Tickets are $35 and $10 for students. Please call Falmouth Academy 508-457-9696 for reservations.

The Cape's professional chamber orchestra of 40 players will perform one more concert in its 2007-2008 season on May 31. The Sinfonietta concerts benefit Falmouth Academy; Historic Highfield; and WCAI, The Cape and Islands NPR Station.
