Cotuit Center for the Arts is proud to announce Cape Cod's first large group glass artists’ exhibition and sale. The exhibition, Clear Vision: Masterworks in Glass will be on view through July 26. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday from 10am - 4pm and from 10am - 2pm on Saturday. For more information, please call the arts center at 508-428-0669.
The exhibiting artists are Jim Holmes, Benton Jones, Fritz Lauenstein, Michael Magyar, David McDermott, Bonnie Maresh, Robbie Mason, Ed Poore, Patrick Todoroff, and Travis Weber as well as pieces from historic Pairpoint, America's oldest glassworks. Works will include the full range of hot worked to cold worked, blown, slumped, beveled, leaded and engraved techniques.

Summer Art for Teens

Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Rte. 28 in Cotuit will offer Summer Art, an intensive program for co-ed students, ages 12 - 15, with an enthusiastic interest in art. The program includes extensive classes in painting, black and white photography, sculpture, and drawing where students will have the opportunity to explore a range of media and visual ideas. Much focus is given to observational assignments. Plaster, wire, charcoal, oil painting, and darkroom techniques will be introduced. Many courses and projects will draw inspiration from the Cape landscape and ocean.
There will be three two-week sessions: June 30 - July 11; July 14 - July 25 and July 28 - August 8. Classes will be held each weekday from 8:30am to 12:30pm. The cost for tuition for each two week session is $600 ($550 for CCftA members). The tuition fee includes all art supplies and studio expenses. A great value at $15 per hour! Faculty consists of experienced, practicing, artists and teachers who look forward to working with creative art students this summer.

Rhymes With Stiches at Highfield Hall

Woods Hole artist Salley Mavor brings her delightful fabric-relief illustrations to Highfield Hall in a new exhibit, “Rhymes with Stitches.” Featured in the exhibition will be artwork from Ms. Mavor’s latest children’s books, published by Houghton Mifflin, Hey, Diddle, Diddle, Jack and Jill and Wee Willie Winkie. The exhibition opens on Monday June 30, with a reception to be held from 4 to 6 pm. Eight Cousin’s Bookstore will have be on hand with copies of Mavor’s books for sale and the artist will be in attendance to sign books and discuss her work. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend; children, especially, are welcome.
Mavor’s art work will be on display in the Clark Gallery at Highfield Hall from Monday, June 30 – Sunday, August 3. Highfield Hall is open to the public Monday – Friday and Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm. Admission is free of charge.
SULLIVAN AND GILBERT by Ken Ludwig

Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Rte. 28 in Cotuit, proudly presents SULLIVAN AND GILBERT, a play with music by Ken Ludwig on June 26 - July 13*. Performances will be held at 8pm Thursdays-Saturdays with Sunday matinees at 4pm. (There is no performance on July 4th.) Tickets are $20; $18 for seniors and members; $10 for students with ID. Rich McKey direct this charming and clever play with music that mixes hilarious backstage drama with the best of the Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire. SULLIVAN & GILBERT Sunday Matinee Children's Workshops

Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Rte. 28 in Cotuit will offer two coordinated workshops for children that correspond with their production of Sullivan and Gilbert by Ken Ludwig, a play with music that mixes hilarious backstage drama with the Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire.
Musical theater instructor and choreographer, Michele Colley-Whittier will introduce your child to the music of Gilbert & Sullivan and the basics of performance techniques. The first workshop for children ages 5-8 will be held on Sunday, June 29 from 4:00pm to 6:30pm. A workshop will also be offered on July 6 for children ages 9-11 from 4:00pm to 6:30pm.
The cost is $20 per child with purchase of ticket to Sullivan & Gilbert; $25 per child if not purchasing ticket to Sullivan & Gilbert. A snack is included. Pre-paid advance reservations are required and may be placed by calling the box office at 508-428-066.

Noted Landscape Historian to Speak at Highfield Hall

Lucinda Brockway, a renowned landscape preservationist from Kennebunk, Maine, will be at Highfield Hall on Wednesday, July 9 for an illustrated lecture at 10:00 am. Brockway will be talking about the history of the Highfield Hall landscape, and will provide information to homeowners about how they can apply historic landscape concepts to their own gardens.
