Category: Family Friendly
Start: Sunday, April 18, 2010
Times: 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Location: O'Sheas Olde Inne - 348 Main Street(Rte. 28) West Dennis, MA
Stanley & Grimm, award-winning traditional music duo featuring Nikki Engstrom on fiddle and Sean Brennan on guitar and vocals will play a special Sunday afternoon show at O’Shea’s Olde Inne in West Dennis as part of the popular new winter concert series HOMESPUN TRAD.
Sunday April 18th at 3:00 PM. Admission $10.
After an exciting year of playing concerts around New England in support of their 2008 Celtic Radio Network Album of the Year Award-Winning CD ‘ANOTHER ROUND’ the Cape Cod based popular traditonal music duo return to O’Shea’s Olde Inne in West Dennis, the venue where they first played together in Irish music sessions years ago, and developed the foundation of music on which they have built their repertoire....a fun and exciting mix of traditional and modern fiddle tunes of many origins combined with old and new songs from Ireland, America and beyond. Nikki and Sean also perform original tunes and songs which have become fan favorites such as “Little Hawk” and “Galway Senorita”.
Fiddler Nikki Engstrom and guitarist/ singer Sean Brennan have been playing throughout New England as the duo Stanley & Grimm at concerts, house parties, pubs and festivals for the last four years. Nikki and Sean made their debut appearance as Stanley & Grimm at the 2005 Cape Cod Celtic Festival where they opened for the internationally known Cape Breton group Beolach. In the following three years they have recorded two CDs of traditional material, original compositions and unique arrangements. They have opened shows for Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill, Liz Carroll & John Doyle, and traveled throughout New England playing concerts, house parties, festivals and pubs to a growing base of fans who love Stanley & Grimm’s exciting music and infectiously fun and exciting shows.
“This New England duo plays a mix of old and new tunes that is a delight to the ears and addicting to the feet (especially those that dance).” Celtic Radio Network
Joe O’Shea, proprietor of O’Shea’s Olde Inne in West Dennis, started the Homespun Trad series on Sunday afternoons last year in an effort to provide support and exposure for local Cape Cod musicians and to create a comfortable and creative venue for performances during the long, slow winter season here on Cape Cod. The series has featured well known groups from off Cape as well, but most importantly has exposed local audiences to the innovative and incredibly talented musicians living amongst us here on Cape Cod.
“Homespun refers to the weaving of fabric locally. Historically it was used against the British Empire by locals in India and Ireland who would buy only homespun products, not British products. The homespun trad series honors musicians from the Cape and South Shore.”
