errant wanders around Paris reciting short texts and listening to a portable
short wave radio. She comes from nowhere, like an eternal immigrant who has
lost track of her itinerary, she moves deeper and deeper into the city
searching for a resting place. She bonds with distress and with beauty, studies
the behaviour of the tourists and the locals, learns from the bums and the
crazies and blends in until all that remains of her is the scintillation off
the panes of an itinerant glass cutter.
James Montgomery Blues Band
Start: Friday, September 3, 2010
Times: 8:00pm - 10:30pm
Location: Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Rte 28, Cotuit MA 02635
Cotuit Center for the Arts (CCftA) is pleased to announce the latest concert in the 2010 “Art on the Walls, Music in the Halls” music series: James Montgomery Blues Band. On Friday, September 3rd at 8pm, we invite you to join us for a rare Cape Cod appearance by this spectacular band. James has not performed on the Cape since his last show at CCftA, when he played to a sellout, enthusiastic crowd. The band will be releasing a new CD shortly, and James is also featured, along with Morgan Freeman and Willie Nelson, in the film “Delta Rising”, about blues music in the Deep South.
When blues legend James Montgomery plays the harmonica, he "brings it on home". Whether it's opening a concert for Aerosmith, BB King or Little Feat, performing with other legendary musicians, or fronting his hot band of thirty years, Montgomery plays with authority. While growing up in Detroit he learned first-hand from the masters - James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, and Jr. Wells - at the legendary "Chessmate." Over the years, he's carried on in the tradition and continues to be a vital presence in Blues as one of the most dynamic performers on the scene. He’ll be performing at CCftA with the addition of an extraordinary horn section to his band, the Uptown Horns, who have toured with the Rolling Stones and J. Geils.

“For a long time we have had the idea of creating a comfortable, fun and affordable series that works for everyone. Musicians get to share their work with a new audience, and music fans on Cape Cod have a regular place to come and hear some of the best new music being created. When we discovered the Art Barn, we knew it was the perfect space for what we had envisioned. I was thrilled when the folks at CCftA agreed to it.” –Tracey Delfino of Trespass Music
“Music is an integral part of CCftA's programming. One of the Center's goals is to be known as a venue for ongoing concerts, genre series and as a resource for music education. When Trespass Music approached us with the idea of a bi-monthly songwriter series, we jumped at the opportunity. The Center's studio is the perfect setting for such a venture and we look forward to expanding our musical offerings through the Art Barn Songwriter Series.”- David Kuehn, Executive ‘Director of CCftA
